The Developing 8 (D-8) is an organization of eight
developing countries that have formed an economic development alliance.
The objectives of D-8 Organization are to improve member states’
position in the world economy.
The D-8 organization was founded on June 15, 1997 in Istanbul, Turkey
by Necmettin Erbakan, former Turkish Prime Minister.
D-8 Countries
The D-8 are large Muslim population countries. The eight D-8 countries are: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey.D-8 Priority Areas
The five priority areas of D-8 are:- Trade
- Agriculture and Food Security
- Industrial Cooperation & SMES
- Transportaion
- Energy & Mineral
D-8 Secretariat
